Principal's Report

リリーベール小学校のみなさま ようこそ

(Welcome to the staff and students from Lilyvale Primary School)

It has been an extremely exciting week at Kalinda as we welcome 13 students and 3 staff members from our sister school Lilyvale Primary School from Mito, Japan. At our welcome assembly, there was a fantastic atmosphere in the stadium as you could sense how excited our students were to meet our visiting students.

So far this week, students from Lilyvale have joined our students in regular class activities, played Japanese games with our students and presented to classes across the school about Japan and how their school life differs from ours. It is a fantastic opportunity for our students to make cross-cultural connections and develop an interest in the rest of the world.

Today we will be having a Japanese and Australian sports day with many of our students and the Lilyvale students. We will have a chance to teach some Australian games and learn some Japanese games whilst having a lot of fun together.

I would like to give a huge thank you to all of our Host Families. Without you this Sister School relationship would not be possible and the experience you provide for our visiting students is amazing. It was fantastic to see the rapport and relationships that were quickly built between the children from our Host Families and the student they were hosting. These friendships and memories can last a lifetime.

I would also like to thank Hiromi, Jess and Cheryl for the huge amount of work they have put into preparing for the visit from Lilyvale. It has been an absolute success so far and I am very excited to continue the reciprocal visits for many years to come.

Parent Opinion Survey

Thank you so much to everyone from our random sample of families who have responded to the Parent Opinion Survey. With 61 families responding already, we have a great sample size and this will give us accurate data that we can work with to continue improving the school. For those who were invited to complete the survey, it will remain open until Sunday 18th August.

We are kind. We are resilient. We are respectful.
