Year 4-6 Maths

C. Piscitelli

The Year 4-6 unit has had an awesome time this week in Maths. They have been completing a series of fun experiments to measure capacity.  Throughout the week the Year 4-6 students have taken part in three tasks. 1. Using metric units to make ‘Ooblec’.  2. Measuring the capacity of an unknown container. 3. Measuring their lung capacity. A lot of fun was had!

This is the first unit to be co-created by our ‘Maths Student Focus Group’.  This group of students signed up and met with Miss Piscitelli during their lunch time to create lessons, share ideas, discuss possible difficulties and most  importantly, evaluate how engaging the tasks would be! They were enthusiastic, responsible and presented their ideas very well. The Maths Student Focus Group will be meeting again today to discuss next weeks plans!

Year 4-6 and Year P-1 Literacy News

C. Piscitelli

This week Miss P and Miss McPhee’s literacy groups took a trip over to the green building and spent the morning with Mrs Brown’s class! They had an awesome time together and it was great to see the older students supporting the younger ones.  We can definitely see some friendships developing! The students analysed ‘The Shoemaker’ - a short film with no words. They then adapted the idea by creating their own object that had come to life and created a story together to match.
