Chance Yourself: Change the World

Year 7 -10 Personal Passion Project,

Commencing on Monday April 27th, all students in Years 7-10 will be able to make some important and exciting choices about how they learn as part of Term 2’s Continuity of Learning from home. The Department of Education and Training has mandated that all Year 7 - 10 students in all schools to do the following:

English - 45-60 minutes per day

Mathematics - 30-45 minutes per day

Physical Education - 30-45 minutes per day

Other Curriculum - 90 minutes per day.

Our KOOL website will be updated this week with clear advice for students in Years 7-10 about how to organise their daily routine. As well as continuing the specific subjects nominated above, Year 7 and 8 students will continue Religious Education, Year 9 students, their Science and Year 10 students, their Humanities. The Weekly schedule on KOOL will timetable these subjects prior to lunch on weekdays, except Wednesdays.

Every Wednesday, and every other day after lunch, students will be working on their own project. Very specific guidelines will be launched later this week. Each student, in small groups (5-12) will have a Mentor teacher to discuss, advise and support students through their project. Upon return to school, students will showcase the outcome of their project, be it a product or a new skill. Students will be required to keep a weekly journal reflecting on the process. The purpose of this is to develop an understanding of the learning process required to complete any project to your personal best standard.

The opportunity for students to really invest their heart and soul into a topic that they have always wanted to learn about, is an exciting one. We are looking forward to reporting on what students learn through this process and seeing the amazing outcomes of their passion and dedication.
