Living Well, Learning Well

This term we have been focusing on Living Well, Learning Well, which includes I am safe, I am valued, respected and cared for, and I am a learner.   Each classroom has now brainstormed ideas to help us feel safe, respected and cared for.  Students and teachers are working together to make our school a place where everyone believes in our slogan:

“People have a better day because I am here being a part of the school team!” We have had a great start to the year.

Welcome to our School:

We would like to welcome two new staff members to our school: Miss Pilgrim and Mrs Hofman.  We hope you enjoy being a part of our school community.

We have also had a number of new enrolments - we have enjoyed meeting our new students and hope that they have a great time at St Joey’s!

Swimming Carnival

In week 3 we had our swimming carnival, which was a great success. Everybody showed sportsmanship and participated in events.  We were very thankful to have our parents and grandparents at this event to watch our efforts in the pool!  We would like to thank teachers and staff for organising and running this event.  Well done to all who participated and good luck to those who have been selected for the Diocesan Swimming Carnival!

Opening School Mass:

Last Friday, we had our Opening School Mass. We thank the parents who attended the Mass, and hope they had a great time.  This Mass was the first official Mass of our school year.  The Captains and Prefects received their badges, and all teachers and students received a blessing from Father Vince.  Students will attend Primary and Infants Mass on alternate Fridays from now on.

What is Working Well:

  • Infants students are doing well making new friends and playing only with infants.
  • Primary students are playing with Primary, and helping the younger students when needed.
  • Living Well, Learning Well is being implemented wonderfully.  We are all feeling valued, safe and like we are able to achieve our best learning at school.

Even Better If:

  • It would be excellent if all students could treat our toilets with respect and care at all times.
  • Remember to treat our school equipment with care - only use equipment for its purpose, return all equipment at the end of play times and report any breakages to teachers.
  • Primary Students, please remember to play by the handball rules and respect our new volunteer handball umpires.
