A Message from the Principal

Mrs Pauline Long

Dear Parents and Carers,

Swimming Carnival

Our Swimming Carnival held last Thursday evening was a huge success. Thank you to Mrs Bartholomew and Mrs Meade for your thorough planning. Thank you also to our P T & F mums and dads for providing the delicious BBQ. Once again I was impressed with the eager participation of all our students and amazed at how entertaining the War Cries were! It was lovely to have our parents and grandparents cheering the students on too.

Congratulations to the students selected to represent our school at the Diocesan Carnival to be held on Friday 26th February: Hayley Rheinberger, Stella McMahon, Abbie Coghill, Jorja Jamieson, Ricky Hird, Charles Lee and Will Bartholomew.  We wish you every success in Tamworth.

School Advisory Council

Our first School Advisory Council meeting is set down for Wednesday 3rd March. The role of this committee is to support the mission of Catholic Education in the school by working with the Principal and Parish Priest to provide guidance and support to the wider school community. The principal has the responsibility for the day to day leadership and management of the school. The School Advisory Council engages in the following areas:

  1. Development of the Catholic Identity, Ethos and Mission of the school;
  2. The pastoral care strategies in the school community;
  3. Promotion of the school in the local community;
  4. Preparation and monitoring of the annual budget;
  5. Ensuring compliance of school committees eg PT & F;
  6. Development of local strategic plans eg for buildings & maintenance;
  7. Facilitating school community responses to Government funding;
  8. The preparation and publication to the parish and school community of an Annual School Advisory Report.
  9. Parent engagement in student learning
  10. The provision of opportunities for parents for social, community and parish interaction and for parents to form supportive networks.

We have a few vacancies on this committee so if you would like to self nominate or nominate a friend please complete the attached form.

This Thursday and Friday I will be in Armidale at the Diocesan Principals' meeting.  These meetings are important for our school as they provide professional learning opportunities for me as a principal so that I can reflect on my leadership and effectively implement school and diocesan policies.

Have a wonderful week.
