Specialist Classes

Italiano

Grade 5/6 students have been writing sentences in Italian about what they can eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack using the vocabulary we have learnt. For example, per colazione posso mangiare le uove. (For breakfast I can eat eggs.)

Foundation to Gr 4 are learning vocabulary related to Le Verdure (The Vegetables). They have enjoyed labelling vegetables in Italian and creating a vegetable crate in their books. Students have also enjoyed participating in games to assist them in recalling vocabulary.

Art

MacKillop Art Exhibition

The MacKillop Art Exhibition launches this Friday evening 11th November, at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Bendigo. Everyone is welcome to come and view the amazing work by Primary and Secondary students from schools in the whole Sandhurst Diocese. It is free and if you wish to attend you just need to register via this link: https://www.trybooking.com/events/865182/sessions/3001818/sections/1550624/tickets

We congratulate our wonderful budding artists this year whose incredible artworks of various mediums were chosen to represent themselves and our school in the exhibition. The students are; Oonagh Mulcahy with her clay work ‘Tizzy the Tiger’, Ryder Morris with his autumn leaf collage, Zeb Hocking with his ‘Britty Em inspired’ dog art, Indi Wild with her abstract winter photograph and Sienna Hocking for her rainbow mixed media collage piece. It never ceases to amaze Mrs Hill and all the teachers just how creative and talented our St Pat’s students are, and the enjoyment and love they have for Art is so wonderful to see.

STEM

This week we followed on from our last session on seed dispersal, investigating the sycamore seed. We learnt how and why they are designed to travel away from the parent tree and then each made our own sycamore seed helicopter. We tested our helicopter seeds by dropping them from a height of 1m and recorded where they landed to see how far they travelled.
