A reminder that coming up soon there will be a curriculum day on Friday, 25th November - there will be no students at school on this day.

PULSE PROJECT - Loving on our flood-affected sister schools!

Our Pulse Parents are creating small gift packs to send to students of three Christian Schools: Echuca, Kerang and Shepparton who have all been severely affected by the recent floods, and with whom we have ongoing connections.

The gift packs will be a gesture of love from our BHCS parents, with items being donated by BHCS families, and then packed into small bags with a note. We need 440 gift packs in total.

Donations of specific items are already coming in from some generous parents and even whole year levels of families! Thank you so much!

If you would like to support this project, Pulse are looking for:

1. Donations of these specific items:

Packs of chewing/bubble gum

Packets of wrapped lollies - any variety

Packets of wrapped chocolates - ie. Freddo Frogs

Please contact Amanda Wight to indicate what quantity you can commit to donating: 0421 799 200

2. Help with Bag Packing!

Join us on Wednesday 9th November in the Restaurant, straight after drop off. Sign in at Reception and come on down for some fun!

  • who test positive to COVID-19 should stay home and isolate for 5 days
  • should not attend school after 5 days if still symptomatic
  • who are symptomatic but have not tested positive should not attend school
  • advise the school of the COVID-19 positive test result

Where students become symptomatic at school they should:

  • be collected by their parents/carers
  • undergo testing for COVID-19.

SUN SMART INFORMATION

Heading into summer!

As the weather begins to warm up, we ask that families ensure students have a drink bottle for school each day.

Students are permitted to take a water bottle in to their classes with them.

Hats are to be worn by all students during recess and lunch times. SPF 30+ plus broad spectrum, water resistant sunscreen should be applied daily before going outdoors.

Daily temperatures should not be used as a guide to when sun protection is needed. When the temperature is cool, it means there is less infrared radiation, but UV levels can still be high. You can check the UV level forecast here.

CYBERSAFETY

How to be a parent in the digital world

Former police officer and cybersafety expert Susan McLean's new book helps parents navigate the online world of their children, writes Shane Green.

In 1994, Susan McLean was a Victoria Police officer, serving as part of a program that put police into schools to foster positive connections with young people. She got a call from a teacher that would provide a startling introduction to the world of cyberbullying.

The teacher wanted Susan to give the ‘police talk’ to some Year 8 girls, who had been ‘up to no good’.   To read more, click here

CHILD SAFETY

Child sexual abuse: talking to children 0-11 years

  • It’s natural to feel uncomfortable talking with children about child sexual abuse.
  • Talking about child sexual abuse helps keep children safe.
  • Talk about saying no, physical warning signs, inappropriate touch, and safe or unsafe secrets and  places.

You might feel uncomfortable or uncertain talking about tough topics like child sexual abuse. That’s natural.

But talking about sexual abuse with your child or the child you’re caring for helps to keep your child safe.

That’s because talking helps your child understand what sexual abuse is and gives your child language to talk about this issue too. Also, open and honest conversations send the message that your child can always talk to you and that you’ll listen no matter what.

For this reason, the School has a small webpage with links related to health and wellbeing resources. This can be found on the School's website under Other Resources or can be found here.
