Curriculum Innovation 2022 Contributions

Once again, we would like to acknowledge the monumental financial support from our parents in 2022 which has allowed us to purchase many curriculum resources. This week's highlight is our BEST (Bioscience, Environmental Science, Sustainability & Technology) equipment - please see student reflection and photos below!

BEST Equipment

Equipping students with the tools to be curious and inquire into the world around them.

The BEST team have purchased a wide range of equipment over the course of the year, in particular to support the development of our VCE programs and to make Science as hands on and engaging as possible.

In Driving the Future Specialism, students have been using wind turbines and building solar cars from kits and in Physics the team purchased a wide range of tools to help concept development including Smart Carts that can display graphs of their motion onto students learning devices. The Biology team have purchased a range of electrophoresis and analysis equipment, as well as models, and the CSI students will be using some of this equipment in the future to look for clues. A clip on microscope and a thermal imaging camera will extend students' ability to see the word around them. To support our budding Chemists, temperature, pH and conductivity probes and colorimeters were a hit with students carrying out research into water quality for their student designed experiments.

When making the purchases, the BEST team carefully considered what was needed to give all students from all levels the best tools to enable them to cultivate their curiosity and make real-world connections.
