Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

We are very excited to announce that we will launching the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award at Beaumaris Secondary College next year! We will be offering the Bronze award to all Year 9 and 10s of 2023, and the Silver and Gold to any senior student who has already completed their Bronze award.

The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award involves 4 components: physical recreation, skills, voluntary service and adventurous journey, at 3 levels: Bronze, Silver and Gold. It is a fantastic opportunity for young people to challenge themselves out of their comfort zone and develop initiative, self-esteem and a sense of adventure. Students set goals for personal improvement in each of these areas. It is an internationally recognised award and can help enhance job, scholarship and university applications.

Please consider discussing with your child if you think they might enjoy participating in the program to achieve the award. There will be an information session for students in GOAL during Week 10.

We are also interested in forming partnerships with the local community for the voluntary service component. If you run or are a part of an organisation which would like to have young people volunteer on a regular basis, please contact myself at sophie.zhou2@education.vic.gov.au

If you would like more information about the Duke of Ed, head to Dukeofed, or contact myself at sophie.zhou2@education.vic.gov.au
