Grade 2-3

Swimming

What two weeks of excitement in the 23 cohort, where students have really enjoyed their swimming lessons at Coburg Leisure Centre!

In the mornings, we had some learning and allowed enough time for a snack before catching the bus to ensure our bodies were full of energy. Once at the swimming centre, students explored our school values and keystones by carefully following teacher's and trainers' instructions, giving a go to all the different activities presented, trying again and again, having a positive attitude towards their learning, taking care of the swimming equipment, and collaborating with their swimming group, among others. Once back at school, we had our lunch and some play time before coming back to our learning routine.

We still have one more week of swimming ahead! Remember that in Week 7 we will be having our swimming lessons on Thursday and Friday.

Inquiry

During our Inquiry sessions, students have been conducting research into food waste. The 2/3 students have a great deal of prior knowledge around this topic and they are super passionate about it. Great job families!

Students watched videos and read articles online to research exactly what was going on with food waste around the world. Posters were then planned out, students included three facts, three solutions and diagrams to get their point across. They will publish these next week!

Maths

This week we learnt a new game, Dice Footy! Some of the students asked to bring home a score sheet! We'd love you to have a go at this as a family!

Literacy

In Spanish Literacy, students are working on writing their own fairy tale narrative. During the past weeks, they have been learning vocabulary related to fairy tale characters, places and times. Students finished writing their orientation last week, and they are now working towards writing the problem and solution of their stories.

This week, they have been introduced to new grammar that will help them with their writing. Students have done some play-based activities to practise conjugating verbs ending in "-AR" in present simple. It would be great if you could give a go at conjugating some verbs together at home!

These are the grammatical rules for verbs ending in -AR:

This is one of the games students are familiarised with. You will only need a dice and a pencil to play:
