Foundation/1

Swimming

The Foundation/One students have had a terrific two weeks of swimming at Coburg Leisure Centre.  They have demonstrated the Newlands Keystones of Care, Curiosity, Creativity and Responsibility throughout the swimming program.

They have shown Responsibility whilst listening to teachers, lining up to catch buses, getting changed quickly.  Students have demonstrated Care keeping their belongings together, looking out for others in the water and using shared equipment.   Diving under the water, they have proven Curiosity to give new things a try and we've witness lots of Creativity in movement of their bodies.

The forth and final lesson for Foundation/One students is based upon water safety skills.

A huge thank you to Raul for co-ordinating the swimming program.

Inquiry

Beginning next week, our focus in Inquiry will move to students thinking about designing a classroom with sustainability as a focus. Later in the term, our students will make 3D models of their design.  We would like to request that families send in recycled materials to make these designs, so please start saving boxes, bottle tops and containers!  We request no glass, and nothing bigger than a shoe box is sent in.

Reading

Please continue to support your child in reading at home each night in both Spanish and English.  Remember that students have access to digital Spanish readers via RazKids, and can practice English phonics on the Nessy website.
