Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

Last Thursday evening our school hosted next year’s Foundation students and their families at a BBQ tea and Information evening, our first such event since 2019. The night was a great success and I am very grateful to these families who were able to come along and to our staff who prepared their ‘specialty salad’, cooked barbecues, set up, cleaned up and enjoyed meeting our new students and their families. Given the weather we have had since, we even had a reasonable night weather-wise. As many of us have remarked upon post pandemic, the small things we take for granted are often what we missed the most when we could no longer do them. (Personally I’m missing the sun at this time of the year!)

GRADUATION Our Grade 6 class will Graduate from primary school at a ceremony at 6:00pm-6:30pm on Thursday, December 8th at the Jubilee Centre at Trinity College.

Given that we have a smaller graduating class and no Covid-19 restrictions this year children may be accompanied by immediate family and grandparents if they choose.

FOUNDATION - 4 ACTIVITY DAY Thank you to teachers and parents for supporting last Friday’s F-4 Activity Day. Sunny weather ensured the children enjoyed an active morning meeting and playing with the children from across all of Colac’s schools.

BEGINNING 2023 Some early notice, 2023 will begin for our teachers on Friday January 27th with training and preparation.

Classes for the children will resume on Monday, January 30th.

CAMPS AND EXCURSIONS Tomorrow our Grade 6 class and their teachers are heading to Hall’s Gap for two nights. Next week our Grade 2 students are off to the Werribee Zoo on an excursion and then our Grade 3s are camping for one night out at Coragulac at the end of next week.

I am very grateful to all of our staff for organising these trips and for taking on the extra responsibility that goes with these adventures, that make school such a fun place where you can learn stuff as well!

CANTEEN NEWS Unfortunately our Lunch Order providers cannot access Dim Sims. I believe all of the Dim Sims in Australia are trapped somewhere on the other side of floodwaters. This supply problem will be rectified I presume whenever it stops raining. Children will need to order an alternative this Friday and until further notice.
