Sustainability News

Hi everyone!

A number of senior Trinity students had the exciting opportunity to be involved in the Big Ideas for Young Minds: Climate Change Summit for Schools summit, held by the State Library of Victoria.

The key message we took away was something we hope our students will always remember:

“If you see the world with curiosity and bravery, you can end up working in amazing places

to do what youre passionate about and make a difference in the future.”

We had a brilliant time and I loved hearing the conversations that students were having. You should be very proud of the job that you are doing, as all the students I met yesterday were so articulate and engaged. They did a wonderful job of representing our school, and I feel that our future is in safe hands with them as the leaders of tomorrow!

Students joined in a selection of workshops, on topics such as reducing waste and correct recycling and getting messages across to government leaders using creative methods such as art and drama.

We are proud to have such thoughtful and passionate students and are excite to see how their desires to change their world for the better, will develop.

Being able to attend the Student Climate Change Summit allowed us to listen to inspiring people who are experts in this field. This has ignited sparks to form new ideas which we can take back to Trinity.

Adelia “I feel hopeful because the  more people know about things like Fracking and climate change, the more they can spread awareness.”

Lucy “We can all try to stop climate change.”

Gardening Fun!

Our garden has exploded with goodness, ready to eat! Today, we harvested big juicy beetroot, lots of silverbeet and edible flowers. It was wonderful to hear a student saying “I’d like some beetroot and edible flowers please, I’m going to make a salad!”

We would love to see any photos of our produce taken home being included in your dinner!  If you take a photo, please send to bnechwatal@tcs.catholic.edu.au.

Things we need!

Wooden spoons - to make decorative plant labels for our vegetable gardens.

We still need more paper bags to take our veggies home in. Please leave at the office, labelled “Miss Belinda”. Thank you!

1/2 MB win Nude Food this week, with a MASSIVE 20 rubbish free lunches! Well done!

Some yummy ideas - a sandwich/wrap/roll, pasta with vegetables, soup, frittata or sushi, a fruit or vegetable snack, such as whole fruit, cut up veggie sticks, fruit or savoury kebab or a small salad.

There is a great booklet of ideas here
