Principal's News

Nigel Rodrigues

Dear Families,

Thank you all once again for supporting our staff to particpate in our Maths Learning Day on Monday. The whole day was spent working with Martin Holt, Educational Consultant, who focussed on helping teachers to further develop engaging and challenging maths content. Whilst we already have a well structured  maths program at Trinity, which is targetted to children's individual needs, we know that learning, even for adults, is an ongoing process and so these sorts of opportunities certainly do help all our teachers to improve their practice which ultimatley results in improved learning for our children. We hope that every child at Trinity sees themselves as a maths learner and can be excited about this part of our curricuilum.

MACSSIS Data

Our school recently received its MACS, School Improvement Survey results. As you may recall these surveys are completed by staff, students and parents each year to provide valuable feedback on a wide variety of school matters. Thank you to those parents who completed this survey earlier this year.  As a staff we will look closely at the data gathered to assist us in preparing our Annual Action Plan for next year.  At first glance we are very happy with the data which shows much improvement in a number of areas identified last year. A highlight of this year's parent data was in relation to our overall school climate and the excellent social and learning environment we have created at our school. As we had anticipated an area for future improvement is in the area of timely communication between school and families and, post COVID, creating better and more frequent opportunities for family engagement with school.

Whilst we still have many weeks to complete our 2022 school year it is also exciting to begin thinking about what lays ahead in 2023.

Prayer:  Our prayer this week is more of a reflection and comes from one of our Senior students, Maisonya, who wrote this beautiful prayer in response to our Shared Stories theme of 'Imagine if'. Ms Marinelli shared this prayer with our staff to begin our Professional Learning day on Monday.

Mary

I wonder what it’s like to be Mary. I wonder what it felt like to be young and chosen to be the mother of Jesus. I wonder why she was so special. Why did God choose her? She must have been very spiritual. She must have had a strong belief in her religion, and she must have been open to listening to God. She had such a big role in her life, and she has had such a big impact on my own life. She inspires me to be kind and brave and accepting of troubles. She inspires me to be like her.

Once again a number of talented students from Trinity performed brilliantly at our recent Regional Athletics competition. Well Done to Amelia - Shot Putt and Edie, Oscar and Lavenia who competed in Hurdles. All these students were very successful at the District Competitions and went on to the Regional Competition all doing extremely well. Big thanks again to Ms McLeary for the great work she does in supporting our children to achieve so well in these sporting events.

A reminder that this evening, to celebrate the opening of the 'Elizabeth St Playground' at 110-112 Elizabeth Street, Richmond, the MZURI Dance Artistree group will be performing and invite any student from Trinity to join in the fun performing with the group. Prep 2023 Transition Day 3

Another successful Transition morning today as our eager Prep 2023 children joined us to further develop the connections which I am sure will help them greatly as they begin their schooling next year. Today each child had the opportunity to create their own Trinity Bucket Hat which they all took home.

Drama Club

Last Friday Ms Stanton and I attended Dame Nellie Kinder with a very enthusiastic group of our senior students who performed for parents and staff at the Kinder as part of the centres Spring Fair. Needless to say our children were a big hit as they performed songs from our recent school concert. Edie in year 6 also performed a dance as part of the Laneway dance club performance which made all of us extremely proud. Thanks Ms Stanton for your extra work in organizing this great experience for our children. Dame Nellie is one of our partner Kinders and we greatly appreciate the relationship we have with them.

Kind Regards
