From the Principal

As I write my Principal report, I am finding it very hard to believe that we are just over three weeks to go until the end of the school year. In the next three weeks we will continue to have clear, consistent and predictable routines for all students.

At this stage of the year the level of exhaustion for students, parents and teachers is huge. We need to remind ourselves of our school values:

  1. Respect
  2. Resilience
  3. Citizenship

As a school community it is expected that we show respect towards ourselves and others. This is clearly demonstrated through our decision making and interactions.

When we are tired, our decision making can sometimes be impacted upon. Thinking carefully before we act is particularly important. We need to demonstrate our resilience by carefully thinking through our options before we act.

We are fortunate to be a member of the Langwarrin Park Primary School community. What makes our community strong, is having the attitude that we contribute positively to it and ensure that we look after each other.

The reasons for sharing this is over the remaining three weeks, we all want our kids to enjoy their time at school and have a strong sense of personal safety. As parents, teachers and students, we all need to work together to make the above happen.

2023 School Priorities

It was evident within our 2022 Parent Survey, that we need to make it clearer what our whole school priorities are. We are at the final stages of writing our school's 2023 Annual Implementation Plan (AIP). Our AIP is a 12 month action plan, based on the goals in our school's strategic plan. We have two major priorities in 2023:

  1. Student Learning
  2. Student Wellbeing

2023 Student Learning Focus

Our core student learning focus for will be on improving our Numeracy outcomes. There will be a particular focus on numeracy assessment and how this is used to inform what the needs for students are.

Teachers will continue to take a highly collaborative approach to the planning of the curriculum and to ensure the needs of students are met.

Teachers will engage in high quality Numeracy professional learning which will then be transferred into their classrooms.

2023 Wellbeing Focus

Our whole school wellbeing priorities next year will include refining our whole school approach with behaviour management.

We will continue to embed strategies from Berry St training, which will include two further days of professional learning in 2023.

We will continue to prioritise how we build and maintain positive parent partnerships.

Grade 1 Grandparents Day

It was fantastic to welcome so many Grade 1 Grandparents earlier this week. There was such a happy atmosphere in classrooms and in the gym afterwards. A number of books were donated back to our school library, which we highly appreciate!

Christmas Disco and Singalong

Over the next couple of weeks we have our Christmas Disco and Singalong. These events will be great fun and we hope you all support our singalong on the oval on Wednesday 7th December.

I wish everyone a very safe and happy weekend.
