ISA Round 6 Fixtures – Saturday 26 November 2022

1st XI v St Augustine’s College @ Oxford Falls #1 (10.00 am start)

2nd XI v St Patrick’s College @ Breen Oval, Strathfield (10.00 am start)

1st XI (6/96) v St Stanislaus’ College (10/95) @ Bathurst – Saturday 19 November 2022

The 1st XI made its annual trip over the mountains and were greeted by a sunny day in the Central West. A hard, dry wicket made batting first an obvious choice; the home side won the toss and did just that. A lush outfield meant that scoring was difficult against the 1st XI attack. The attack led by Jess Mansbridge (1-17 from 10 overs) who brought one back from off to bowl a bemused opener and Mitch McGrath (1-16). Flynn Pavley (1-13) took the third wicket before Andrew May (5-17) bowled two impressive spells of fast and full bowling which saw four of his victims clean bowled. Captain, Joel Austin, contributed an important 5 over spell of 2 wickets for just one run as St Stanislaus was bowled out for 95. Catches were taken by Oli Freeman, Manas Bansal, Mitch McGrath, Lachlan Jursevic and Darcy Aylmer. The smallish target seemed a long way away when the 1st XI collapsed to 5 for 35! Tom Lough (23 not out) and Oli Freeman (39) put on 60 to see the scores level when Oli was out caught. The match winning partnership featured sensible batting, deft placement, and aggressive running between the wickets. With one round to play prior to Christmas, against St Augustine’s, the 1st XI is looking to strongly finish a very good term of cricket.

Senior Basketball

This Saturday is the final week of Basketball this term before the Christmas break. Last week proved a tough round against St Augustine’s and Oakhill, though many games were decided by less than 2 scores, including the 14A, 15A and 17C. Our C/D lines performed strongly with the 3rds, 4ths, 15C, 15D, 14C, 14D, 13C and 13D all winning. Other successful teams were the 15F, 14F, 14H and 13E.

*Please find all Round 5 results on the ISA Sport App. Filter by both School (SPX) and Sport (Basketball Boys) using the icon next to the whistle in the top right corner.

Our season continues with Round 6 this Saturday as per the draw below.

Please be aware of the ISA Code of Conduct for players and spectators. We have high expectations of our young men in their sporting representative roles, especially around behaviour, sportsmanship, attendance and uniform (SPX gear ONLY on Saturdays)

SPX 29 – Sebastian DalMolin and Lachlan McGrath vs SPX 31 – Jayden Kwok and Christian Sorrentino was the match to watch at 8.00 am. It was such a close match with both teams winning 12 games, however SPX 31 won 2 sets making them the overall winners. Jason Bau and Jayden Meguerditchian, SPX 27, dominated the court winning 18 games to 2. Marcus Ulevik, Justin Lee and Alex Kim, SPX 25 played an excellent match against Cammeraygal 5, winning all 3 sets. Thanks must also go to Jack Costa who stepped up into Division 1 at the last minute helping Samuel Hernandez Martinez. Thank you to Antony Autore, Oliver Johnston and Jake Yu who helped out with mentoring and umpiring.
