First Aid Update

WHAT IS THUNDERSTORM ASTHMA?

Thunderstorm asthma can be very serious for people with asthma.

Thunderstorm asthma events are believed to be triggered by an uncommon combination of high grass pollen levels and a certain type of thunderstorm, causing pollen grains from grasses to be swept up in the wind and carried long distances.

The peak season for thunderstorm asthma are the spring months, many happening in November.

Thunderstorm Asthma is something we need to be aware of at this time of the year.

If anyone in your family is affected by asthma, hayfever or allergies please read information on  Better Health Channel <www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/thunderstormasthma>
