Year 7 2020

Welcome!

We welcome our Year 7 students and families of the  Greater Shepparton Secondary College. We hope that 2020 will be a most rewarding year filled with many wonderful opportunities for learning and growth.

Congratulations to all of our Year 7 students for such a successful start to the year. We have been very impressed with the excellent way in which students have started their Secondary College journey. Everyone looks so smart in their new uniforms and it is also pleasing to see students organised with their appropriate materials, ready to learn.

Students are now familiar with their timetables and know their way around the school. We have witnessed lots of fun being had in the classrooms and students building strong social connections with new friends.

Classes are well under way now and it is pleasing to see how quickly our Year 7 students have settled in. When we walk around the school and visit classes it is great to see so many smiling faces and hear comments such as “this is so much fun”, and “can we do that again?” It is also fantastic to see how proud our students are of their achievements to date.

On Tuesday 11th February we held our Welcome BBQ and Compass Introduction Evening. It was pleasing to meet the families of our students and we welcome each and every one of you to the Greater Shepparton Secondary College community.

Our Year 7 students have also experienced their first sports carnival. It was great to see so many students dressed in their house colours participate in both the Year 7 swim trials and the Junior School Swimming sports held at Aquamoves on Tuesday 17th February. Congratulations to our age group champions and for everyone who participated and did their best on the day.

Preparation now turns to the Year 7 Camp. Camp is a great opportunity for students to put themselves out of their comfort zones and participate in activities such as the high ropes course, flying fox, bush walking and the survivor challenge. Many strong friendships and bonds are formed on camp and we encourage all Year 7 students to attend if possible.
