THE ARTS

The students compared the art of Haring and Basquiat. We discussed the idea of what constitutes ‘beautiful’ art. Many questions arose, such as, “Does art have to be neat?” and “Can something ‘ugly’ still be beautiful?”

The students drew their own ‘messy’ portraits in the style of Basquait which was very liberating!

What you can do at home to support your child:

If your child has discussed any of the artists we are learning about, you could research their favourite artist with them.

If they are really keen, and time permits; plan a visit to the NGV or visit the Keith Haring mural in Collingwood.

It has been brought to our attention that students have not brought back their Art Smocks from last year. It needs to be returned to school asap, as it is required for Art each week.
