Place Value

Over the past few lessons we have been exploring how we can better understand place value. We have attempted many challenges including brushing up on our prior understanding of place value representations, 'cracking the code', rolling a three, four and five digit number, as well as how to read and write numbers applying knowledge of place value to hundreds of thousands.

We have been developing our understandings through challenging tasks that focus on the maths proficiencies and norms, as we move to focusing on the skill of estimation to check our understandings of a problem.

At home:

Continue the conversation about how numbers have value, even zero, depending on its position and representation with given numbers.

Question and discuss what estimation is and how we can estimate in our everyday lives (mass, length, time etc).
