Principal's News

Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,

As the 2019 School year comes to an end I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on what has been a productive term of teaching and learning. We have again achieved much success.

Today at our final assembly for 2019 many students were presented with awards in recognition of their achievements throughout the year.  Thank you to all who came along to support our students.  Whilst not all students received awards, this does not mean that we are not extremely proud of everyone’s achievement.

Last week we celebrated the Graduation of our Year 9 students; many of whom were the first Prep to enrol here at PCC in the first year of operation on the current site.

The term has seen students participate in camps, excursions, swimming programs, sporting competitions, a science night and competitions, including PCC has talent and Chess. It was exciting to see the high levels of engagement and commitment to each of these events.

All of these amazing programs and opportunities would not be possible without the endless energy, skills and devotion of the PCC staff.   Thanks and well done to an incredible group of professionals.

The end of each school year comes with farewells, and this year is no different. I would like to take this opportunity to farewell the following staff who are departing PCC for various reasons; including retirement and relocation.

  • Alison Farrugia
  • Christine Giarrusso
  • Bec Collins
  • Kaylene Tanti
  • Jackie Phillips
  • Ben Sampson
  • Anne Mackelvie
  • Vanessa Light

I thank each and every one of these staff members for the contribution they have made to Point Cook College and I wish them well in their future endeavours.

We are looking forward to another exciting year of learning in 2020. So many wonderful opportunities await us.  We will be launching our design technology area in 2020. We have purchased some amazing technology which will engage our students; this includes a CNC router, laser cutter, 3 D printers, vinyl cutter sticker machines and many hand help tools and small electrical equipment.

We have introduced Japanese as a second option for our LOTE program. We are planning on offering extra- curricular lessons for interested students, and an amazing opportunity for students in Years 8 & 9 to undertake a study tour to Japan in November of next year.

Our new canteen will be open on day 1 of next year.  Additional information will be provided via Compass in mid January.

I am looking forward to seeing you all in 2020. All students will commence school on Thursday 30 January.

Please remember students are expected to enter their classrooms at 8:30 each morning.  School concludes at 3:00 each afternoon.

Merry Christmas to you and your families.  May your 2020 be happy and prosperous.

Yours sincerely,

Mandy O’Mara
