INTERMEDIATE BOYS & GIRLS TABLE TENNIS

On Thursday 31 October, the Intermediate Table Tennis teams headed to the Southern Metro Regional Finals at the Greater Dandenong Table Tennis Association after finishing first in the Kingston division.

The boys’ first match in their pool against Nossal High School was the toughest matchup. Nossal proved too much for us. Our player, Kevin Feng, was injured during his match as the team lost 3 out of the 4 singles. The boys were able to win one of the doubles but lost the other. Eventually, the boys lost to Nossal 2-4 in rubbers. Still persevering after the tough loss, the boys played the other two schools in their pool: Cranbourne Secondary and Frankston High School, and ruthlessly won both matchups 6-0.

McKinnon Boys’ Team finished second in their pool and unfortunately didn’t advance to the final. The loss against Nossal proved crucial. Despite the loss, the boys remain hopeful as they are only Year 9s playing against Year 10s and will have a much better chance next year. Congratulations to the Year 9 squad members: Zong Yu Li, Nikita Osadchiy, Aaron Zachariah, Marco Guo and Kevin Feng for making to the regional stage.

On Thursday 31 October, the Year 9 and 10 Intermediate Boys and Girls Table Tennis teams attended the Southern Metro Regional Finals which was held at the Dandenong Table Tennis Association. Both groups played tremendously and the Year 10 Girls, with an automatic disadvantage, having only three players (Macy Tofler, Alisa Sharkova and Chloe Smith) instead of the usual 4 or more, managed to win all three doubles rounds which was quite an achievement. Although neither were successful in proceeding to the next round, the day was full of fun with meeting new friends and flying the McKinnon flag high! Thanks Mr Law for supplying us with the high quality bats and making it a memorable event.
