ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECT FOR YEAR 10 GERMAN STUDENTS
At the end of their Year 10 German class, students are participating in an environmental project, raising awareness about the issues they are concerned with. The GOETHE INSTITUT Melbourne offers this competition to students at all year levels, which engages them in a most current topic of our time.
Students need to analyse, research and compare the impacts of environmental issues in Australia and German-speaking countries. They are working in groups to create an appeal for change based on research and are asked to find creative and viable solutions. Students will create a two minute film clip and need to complete a supportive documentation (in English and German) to document their ideas. Completed projects will be submitted to the GOETHE competition.
Thank you to Herrn Nutting and Frau Paal for providing this rewarding online experience to our students.
YEAR 8 - EMAIL EXCHANGE WITH GERMAN STUDENTS
Students at Year 8 level will be consolidating their language learning over the past two years by communicating with a German partner online. Connections with our Exchange Sister School ´Alfred Wegener Gymnasium´ in Kirchhain, Germany and the ´Max Planck Gymnasium´ in Göttingen, Germany, have been continuing over the past years and we appreciate the collaboration with our German colleagues and students overseas.
Parents have been given notice about this project via a Compass email and students have been made aware of the expectations of their online conduct.
THE MOST PEACEFUL REVOLUTION - 30 JAHRE MAUERFALL
As Australia remembers the service men and women who died in wars on 9 November, Germany celebrates ´30 Jahre Mauerfall´, one of the most significant events in post-war Europe.
The peaceful revolution which reunited Germany is a significant historical event that should always remind us that the freedom of the people and our democratic societies should not be taken for granted.

NEW CALEDONIA LANGUAGE AND CULTURAL TOUR 2020 - INFORMATION EVENING TUES 19 NOVEMBER
There will be an information session for any current Year 8 students interested in next year's New Caledonia Language and Cultural Tour and their parents on Tuesday 19 November at 7pm in the Lecture Theatre.
It is an eight day tour that runs in the final week of Term 3. Students spend the week immersed in French language and New Caledonia culture through language lessons, tourism activities around Noumea and the smaller islands and the experience of staying with a New Caledonian family.
During this session, we will outline the program and what it involves. We will also explain the application process and key dates. Applications will be due by Friday 13 December and students must be taking French as a Year 9 subject.
