2019 ICAS Online Science Competition (Years 7-12)

2019 ICAS Online Science Competition (Years 7-12)

Wednesday 4, Thursday 5 or Friday 6 September (date to be announced)

The University of New South Wales is offering students an opportunity to participate in the International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS).

ICAS assessments have taken place annually in schools for over thirty-five years and in 20 countries. Educational Assessment Australia (EAA), who design and deliver the assessments, is the not-for-profit arm of the University of New South Wales.

ICAS:

  • The ICAS Assessments series is designed to assess your students' ability to apply classroom learning in new contexts, using higher-order thinking and problem-solving skills
  • ICAS Assessments are online assessments, designed to recognise and reward academic excellence.
  • The assessments are based on the curricula for the relevant year. Students are asked to demonstrate a deeper, integrated, and thorough level of learning.
  • To ensure an engaging and beneficial experience for all students, new ICAS assessments are developed annually for each subject in every year level.

Benefits:

  • Provide objective ranking of performance
  • Encourage students to attain greater academic success
  • Require students to think beyond the classroom
  • Recognise student success through medals and certificates

Awards and Recognition:

Achievement certificates are awarded to all students at a range of levels:

  1. High Distinction to the top 1% of students
  2. Distinction to the next 10% of students
  3. Credit to the next 25% of students
  4. Merit to the next 10% of students
