OUR FAITH

PRAYER
Almighty and Everlasting God, You have given the human race Jesus Christ our Savior as a model of humility. He fulfilled Your Will by becoming Man and giving His life on the Cross. Help us to bear witness to You by following His examples and make us worthy to share in His Resurrection. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son. Amen
We pray ...
We pray for... for all those travelling during the holidays – may they be kept safe; for our St Nicholas School Community, that we all experience a happy and rewarding Easter with our family and loved ones; for the Reddel family on the safe arrival of their precious baby girl, for the Traill and Grimley families on the passing of their beloved grandfather.
REAL Talk
We were fortunate enough to have two fantastic presenters visit our school this week from the REAL Talk Team (Ged Trolove and Nikki Lysaght). The content discussed at the parent session was invaluable and judging by the feedback received, many will be implementing some tips and tricks around social media and are now better equipped to engage in deeper conversations with their child/ren. Thank you to the parent community who supported this event. Hopefully, next year when the team visits again we see more parents in attendance.
Students in Year 4 and 6 also got the opportunity to engage in workshops with our presenters.....
LITURGY NEWS
This week 4P had the opportunity to attend Reconciliation with Fr Chris. We thank Fr Chris for his continued support of our spiritual life.
FAMILY MASS
Wow! What an amazing turn out at Family Mass last Sunday. Our biggest yet. It was lovely to see so many families gathering to celebrate Mass and afterward enjoy the sunshine over a cuppa and morning tea. Thank you to all the families and teachers who supported this Mass and for the delicious treats. This celebration also gave us the opportunity to see and pray for some of the First Reconciliation and First Eucharist candidates.
Term 2 - Family Mass Dates
5th May - 9.30am St Nicholas Church (Year 3 and First Eucharist Candidates hosting)
2nd June - 9.30am St Nicholas Church (Year 2 and Year 4 hosting)
PROJECT COMPASSION BOXES
Calling all Project Compassion Boxes filled or not! These can either be given to Mrs Dunst at school or alternately taken to St Nicholas Church and handed in at one of the masses scheduled for Holy Week.
FIRST RECONCILIATION AND FIRST EUCHARIST
First Reconciliation and First Eucharist preparations have begun. Thank you to all the parents who came to the information sessions and enrolment Mass. You would have received a pack with lots of information and important details. Please send in paperwork and money to your child's class teacher at your earliest convenience.
FIRST EUCHARIST DRESS- Loan or Donate?
We are continuing with a more traditional formality to our First Eucharist that many parents have requested in recent times, relating to the children’s dress for the occasion. The girls are being asked to wear a white dress with white tights or stockings and shoes, while the boys are asked to wear black trousers, black shoes, white shirt and a tie. While this attire is being requested, we are conscious of imposing any extra burden on our families and hope to be able to assist anyone who may be finding it difficult to acquire any of these clothing. Therefore, if you have any of these items of clothing at home that you could lend to one of our candidates or donate to our clothing pool here at school, we would love to hear from you. Please email or send in a note to Mrs Dunst with your name and the articles of clothing you have (with sizes please) that may be borrowed and we will endeavour to attempt to match it with someone requiring that particular item. Thank you in anticipation of your support.
STATIONS OF THE CROSS
A whole school Stations of the Cross Liturgy will be held tomorrow Friday 12th April. The school will gather together to walk in Jesus’ footsteps. Staff and students will engage in prayer, singing and reflection to focus on the events of Jesus’ last hours of life on earth. Parents and friends are more than welcome to join us. This Liturgy will begin at 9am in the school undercroft.
MOTHERS' DAY MASS (Advanced Notice)
A Whole School Mother’s Day Mass will be held on Friday 10th May (Week 2) at 9.30am at St Nicholas School Undercroft. We would like to invite all mothers, grandmothers and friends to our Mass and hope you will be able to join us for this special occasion.
