Principal's News

Dear Parents and Friends

Italian Day

Wow!! What a wonderful day we had on Tuesday with our very first Italian Day. We started the day with a prayer where some of our Year 6 students presented the Ava Marie prayer in Italian. We then went on to have a quiz about Ancient Rome and I was absolutely amazed at how much history and how much of the Italian language our children knew.  We then had a parade and the costumes were sensational!

From the parade the children went back to their rooms where they completed activities related to their learning. Our pizzas arrived and we enjoyed pizza, a drink and gelato! Then the gondola races started!! So much fun was had by everyone! After the gondolas, we had a performance by “Claudia”.  Tracey could hear the laughter from her office!

Senora Talarico not only organised all the events, she even cooked the staff lasagna and cannelloni! How spoilt were we?

A very big thank you and congratulations to Marie for the most wonderful and fun packed day we had for our very first Italian Day. We are already looking forward to next years Italian Day! Bravo Senora Talarico!

I also wanted to give a big shout out to Erin McGeoch, Cleidi Bagaloti, Ali Donnelly, Sophie Angus, Eva Takis and Dani Day for helping pack the children's Italian Day lunches.

Condolences

Our prayerful sympathy is extended to Jodie Marziano and her family whose beloved father, David Love passed away last Thursday.  Please keep Jodie and her family in your thoughts and prayers.

Hair Length, Jewellery and Nail Polish

We have noticed that there are quite a few students (both boys and girls) whose hair is longer than shoulder length and is not tied back. Please make sure our Uniform Policy is being adhered to.  If your child comes to school next term without their hair tied back we will supply them with a hair tie. We have also noticed children are wearing jewellery that is not in line with our uniform policy.

Our Uniform  policy states:

  • Plain gold or silver stud earrings and sleepers, watches and fine gold/silver chains with Christian symbols are the only acceptable jewellery.
  • All jewellery worn to school is at the student’s own risk.
  • Extreme hair colours and extreme hairstyles are not permitted.
  • All hair below the collar needs to be tied back.
  • Cosmetics may not be worn at school eg nail polish

Changes to Operoo - Medication, Dietary Requirements and Change of Contact Details.

Could you please make sure you add any changes to  medication,  dietary requirements, contact details (phone numbers/addresses) on Operoo. It becomes very difficult for staff to contact parents if we do not have the correct information. In regards to dietary requirements we cannot find out about a child’s allergy or intolerances on the day of an event - we cannot change what has been ordered. If your child has dietary requirements we ask you to contact the office or classroom teacher to discuss options for your child. If your child has dietary requirements we do ask you to supply food for them.

School Closure Day - Friday 24th June

Tomorrow is a school closure day. The staff will have an external presenter to support us in our RE formation. The focus on the day is Christian Meditation and how we will incorporate this into our daily prayer.

Student Led Conferences

Due to Term 2 being a short term and that we had Review in the last week of term our Student Led Conferences will occur week 3 of Term 3. 3/4K's Student Led Conferences will occur on Tuesday 19 July (week 2).

This is an opportunity for your children to showcase the work they have completed as well as discuss a goal they are working on in Term 3.

These conferences will be either face to face or a phone conference. It would be lovely to see as many parents as possible to come in and speak to the teachers and their children as we haven’t had our normal Student Led Conferences for two years due to COVID. Booking information will come out early next term.

Semester One School Reports

Today your school reports will be ready for viewing. You will receive an email with the log in details to access your child/rens reports. If you have any issues accessing the reports please inform the school.

Year 3 ‘Camp’ experience

We are looking forward, to having our first year 3 camp experience! The teachers have planned a wonderful afternoon of activities, dinner and then to end the night a silent disco. We are looking forward to spending some time with the children in a different and more relaxed setting.

Enrolments 2023

It's not to late to enrol for 2023.  Please spread the word to your family and friends.  School tours are available.  Contact the office to book a time.

I wish everyone a safe, happy and relaxed holiday. If you are traveling please travel safe and we look forward to another term of working together to create a wonderful learning experience for our children.
