Principal Post

Dear Families,

I hope that you are all keeping warm and well! The winter chill is a very much with us!  We still have  several staff and students who are absent with various bugs.  It is most important to continue to monitor your child's health. Stay at home if unwell. Please note we have the Queen's Birthday  Public holiday next Monday 13th June - NO SCHOOL!

Staffing News

With teachers and staff members away with illness, it can be difficult to  get Causal Relief Teachers.  Be assured we make the best arrangements as is possible for the students. I thank the staff and leadership  for their flexibility and for stepping into classes when required. As always our students are the priority.

We wish Emma Sofra  every blessing as she takes  Maternity Leave. Her last day is this Friday.  Emma is a wonderful teacher and will be missed by all.  We will keep you updated after the birth of her 3rd child, due in July.

We welcome Kristina Khoo back to our school as a part time  classroom teacher for 3/4GS and 3/4HS. Kristina has had a good changeover with Emma and the 3/4 level and has been part of their planning.

Camp Australia

Holiday Program

I thank all the parents who have expressed an interest in having  Camp Australia use our facilities for a Holiday Program.

UNFORTUNATELY we do not have enough interest  for a program to be conducted in the Term 2 holidays at SJV.

I do however encourage more families to consider this option if we are wanting to have a holiday program in September holidays (September 19th - September 30th).

In early term 3, I will send an email to all families asking you to complete a proforma should you be interested in having a holiday program at SJV.

Please find the available Camp Australia Rocketeers services in and around the Mulgrave area for parents to access in the Term 2 holidays. There may be other places as well on the website

Please register as soon as possible.

 School Advisory Council  Meeting

Last evening we had a School Advisory Council Meeting. Our focus was a discussion of the   updated eleven Child Safe Standards which come into effect on July 1 2022.

School Advisory Wants to hear from you  from you

The SJV School Advisory Council (SAC) wants to hear from you!

The SAC is a vehicle for consultation between parish, school and families. The SAC is comprised of parent representatives, the parish priest, the school principal and other members of the school leadership team. Meetings are held periodically throughout the school year. Our role is to advise, assist and support the Principal and leadership of the school on important school matters.  Some of the topics that we may discuss are:

  • Traffic management
  • Family engagement
  • Canteen
  • Facilities/Improvement plans
  • Enrolment trends
  • Catholic Identity/Mission

The SJV SAC is keen to hear from you about school matters that you may feel are important and should be considered by the SAC. Please feel free to send us a message on council@sjvmulgrave.catholic.edu.au

The SJV SAC seeks to support the school to make decisions that are for the betterment of the school and its staff, the students and their families.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Pyjama Day - NEXT TUESDAY 14th June

We are looking forward to our Winter Pyjama Day on Tuesday next week. Please, make sure that your child is appropriately dressed for the cold weather AND that they wear their school or sports shoes if they have performing arts or P.E.

Class Masses - this week 3/4O

How wonderful have our Mass celebrations been this term!  This Friday  we have 3/4O who will lead us in our celebration.  Parents and grandparents are welcome to join our students, staff  and  parishioners.  We invite parents to join us for a morning tea in the staff room after Mass. If cooking food, please list all ingredients. NO NUTS FRESH CREAM etc

IF YOUR CHILD IS RUNNING LATE PLEASE BRING THEM TO THE OFFICE TO SIGN IN BEFORE TAKING THEM TO THE CHURCH

Back Gate gets locked at 8:50am

An important reminder that if you drop your child off at the back gate to ensure that you see them enter the school grounds.  The gate will be locked at 8:50am.  If the gate is locked, you will need to drive your child around to the front office and ensure they receive a late pass.

Shade Sail at back of school near Canteen

You may have noticed that work has begun to construct a Shade Sail near the back gate area. In 2021, with the challenges of the COVID 19 pandemic, the Government  provided eligible schools a grant to construct a shade sail outdoor learning / activity space.  We look forward to be able to use this from time to time in better weather.

Gala Day Sports Day - Yr 5/6

Our second Gala Sports day takes place this Friday. Parents of these students should have received today a list of the sports and the respective venues. Parents are welcome to   spectate at any of the venues. Parents who are assisting must be vaccinated.

Any issues please contact your child's teacher.
