Community and Family Engagement
This week, we were absolutely delighted to invite a group of children from Footscray West Primary, along with their Educator, Dan, to join us at a morning tea to celebrate our involvement in the ‘Kalbarr Project’. Our committee members shared their experience with the group, who are about to embark on their own Book Drive journey.
It was inspiring to hear our children respond to questions about what has worked well, why they chose to be part of this project, and how they overcame any challenges that arose. Children demonstrated courage and kindness as they connected and engaged in dialogue and laughter as they got to know each other.
It was great to see our children reflect upon how this project has enabled us to live out our Catholic ethos of social justice as we respond to the call of St Mary Mackillop “never see a need without doing something about it.”
The Book Drive will conclude next Friday, where we will present the Books’n’Boots organisation with our donated books at our assembly. The next stage of the project will be an opportunity for our children to connect with the community that will receive our donated books in Cherbourg, Queensland!
A massive thank you to those who have kindly donated your pre-loved books to our Book drive - your donation will go a long way to bridging love and joy to other children!!
Learning walk
In response to our Community Conversation in Term 2, and the priorities raised by families, we will have a learning walk later this term. The focus of this learning walk will be on Discovery and Projects; it will be followed by a Community Conversation where families will be invited to share their insights and wonderings and connect with Educators. Stay tuned for more details!
