A note from Mr Jackson

Welcome Back to Term 3. We look forward to the adventures ahead and building on the learning achievements of the first semester. After two years of disruption, we continue to celebrate the significance of learning together and valuing every moment!

The Bike Shed is Water Tight!

Although the weather has prohibited the riding of bikes, many have celebrated the addition of the roof on the bike shed. We look forward to marking the completion of this project with an opening ceremony hosted by the Junior School Council. Thanks to all who have contributed to the Building Fund and all our students who have fundraised and ensured the completion of the project.

NAIDOC Celebrations

Students dressed in the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, researched significant leaders and dived deeply into conversations around the day itself. Students from the 234 Learning Area opened the library and shared their traditional language games based on the Wurundjeri Woiwurung language. Everyone enjoyed the visit of ‘Clothing the Gaps’ who led students through a range of traditional sports and games. It was a day that reminded us all of the importance of our First Nations peoples and culture. We look forward to sharing the images of the day in our foyer over the coming days.

Three Way Conferences

Students and teachers have been collaborating to prepare for the upcoming Three Way Conferences. All but the 12N conferences are scheduled to take place on Monday and Tuesday of next week. These gatherings are led by students as they share their learning experiences and goals with parents.

Thanks to all who have booked a preferred time for the conversation on Compass. The bookings for these meetings closed on Wednesday morning. We are hopeful that all families might be involved and are now in the process of contacting families who have yet to book.

Curriculum Days

This upcoming Monday is not only scheduled for 3 Way Conference meetings, but also a Curriculum Day. This means that students are only required to be at school during their 3 Way Conference. Students attending TheirCare can be picked up to attend their interview and then returned to the program. Carers wishing to enrol their child into TheirCare can register their child’s attendance by contacting TheirCare directly.

Wednesday 24 August has been set aside for a Curriculum Day, for staff to participate in professional development. Again, this is a pupil free day and TheirCare will be offering supervision for students if required.

Health and Medications Updates

A reminder to all carers that it is important to keep the school informed of the latest medical information for students. Medication Authority Forms are available online or from the front office and enable the provision of medication at school when required. Up to date Asthma plans ensure students are supported appropriately. Please contact the office if you have any questions.

COVID Update

The Victorian Government is providing up to three further deliveries of Rapid Antigen Tests (RATs) in Term 3 and again in Term 4 to schools. These will be distributed by schools for use by staff and students who are symptomatic or who are household contacts. All schools will receive the first delivery of Term 3 RATs by the end of week 3. A number of families have suggested that they do not require further tests at this time. For this reason we invite parents to email the school if they wish to be removed from the distribution list of RATs. Parents may wish to restore their name to the distribution list at a later date. If you wish to decline RAT tests in the future, please simply send an email to rosanna.ps@education.vic.gov.au with the name and class of your child and RATs in the subject.

Ongoing Attendance a Focus

With restrictions related to COVID isolations easing and after a term disrupted by absences as a result of the flu, we are hopeful of an increase in regular attendance over this coming term. The school continues to ensure resources support student learning, which can be enhanced with consistent attendance of all students. Every day matters when it comes to learning at school.

We all want our students to get a great education, and the building blocks for a great education begin with students coming to school each and every day. If students miss school regularly, they miss out on learning the fundamental skills that will set them up for success in the later years of school.

Violinists Achieve

A special note of congratulations for three of our students who have recently received news of having passed their most recent levels! Although they sat for their exams over COVID their recorded performances have only been recently passed. Congratulations to them all for their persistence and effort. A special thanks to Cathy, our violin teacher, who has fostered their growth along the way.
