Light Sculptures Year 9 & 10
Using light as the main medium, students have explored creating sculptures that use lighting in some way. Each work has been created using cardboard, cane, found materials and string lights with students approaching the idea of light as a medium in very different ways.
Mattea Hollis used light to create an image that changes when viewed through RGB filters. Using red, blue and green cellophane viewing panels, the image changes to reveal three different drawings.
Year 8 recently completed some excellent Lino Prints. They all greatly enjoyed the lino cutting process and were delighted to see their final prints. Students experimented with printing on different coloured papers, and adding mixed media elements to their final prints.
Year 4, 5 & 6
Year 4, 5 & 6 have recently done an amazing job, working in the pottery shed, creating their fish sculptures. Students had to design their fish, create the body using the pinch pot method as a starting point and then paint their fish using underglazes. The students were delighted when they saw their finished glazed fish come out of the kiln! It was fantastic to see the variety in shapes and colours.
Digital Technology
Students in Year 7 have completed a unit on Micro:bit computing this term. This involved students learning the basics of coding and experimenting with tiny computers called Micro:bits. Students have completed a number of tasks that involve testing out the capabilities of the Micro:bit and have enjoyed the challenge of designing their own projects.
