Technology

Food, Textiles, Agriculture, Health and VCAL

Term Two has been terrific in the Technology learning area, and students have been achieving such incredible learning outcomes.

Foundation and Year One Technology - Textiles

Over the last two weeks, students in Foundation and Year One have been embellishing their designs with felt and beads. They have learnt how to secure the beads to the fabric and embellish their original design. It has been wonderful to see students shine using their creative abilities in Textiles this term, well done Foundation and Year One students you and your hands are all so amazing!

Year 2/3 Food Technology

Students delighted in making Vegetable stars and baked vegetable chips as a healthy snack. After watching the teacher demonstration of using a food processor to grate the carrot and process the ingredients together, students were then able to press out the dough and use a star cutter to cut shapes to then bake in the oven. The food processor was also used to slice sweet potato, parsnips and carrots before seasoning them with fresh rosemary from the school garden and baking the chips in the oven. The students thoroughly enjoyed eating their delicious vegetable snacks. Over the last two weeks, students have focused on fruit. They cored and stuffed apples, and then baked pastry puffs to serve with their baked apple. Students were very creative with their presentation ideas. Last week students made berry scones and were able to enjoy a delightful afternoon tea devouring their berry scones and some milk. It was wonderful to see and hear the students interact so positively and politely – well done Year 2 and 3 students!

Café Culture Food Technology – Elective

The Café Culture students designed and produced their own scroll to serve at a café. They selected and combined a range of ingredients both sweet and savoury, to produce their sensational scrolls. Last week students

designed and produced their own version of a steak sandwich served with a side of potatoes to complement their steak sandwich. Students were highly engaged in this task and their final dishes tantalised their taste buds. This week students did an incredible job at decorating the cupcakes for our annual Cystic Fibrosis day. Thank you to all the Café culture students for making the cupcakes and to Mollie and her cake decorators on your amazing effort.

Year 8 Technology - Textiles

It has been magnificent to see students finishing their sock protectors and create some superb swing tag designs.

Primary Agriculture

The Foundation and Year One students made their very own greenhouse that they planted some seeds and have been watching them grow.

Year 8 Health

The Year 8 Health students have been creating a positive poster that brings their Character Strengths to life.
