Principal Report

On the cusp of the midyear holiday break students, parents and staff are to be congratulated on the resilience that has been shown over the course of the first Semester. It has been a very busy Semester, with Term 2 being particularly full of activities and opportunities for our young people. The ongoing impact of illness, student and staff absences has created a range of challenges, but as the French playwright, Molière said: “The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it.” It has been a turbulent time and there will be more challenges ahead, but I am very happy with the direction our school is moving.

At the time of print I will be immersed in a four-week internship at Horsham College, shadowing Principal Rob Pyers. The internship is part of the Unlocking Potential: Principal Preparation (UP) Program which serves as a unique opportunity to develop my professional knowledge, capabilities and confidence to lead for learning in ways that significantly impact on student learning outcomes and schoolwide improvement.

The course has included 7 full days of professional development, working with other aspiring leaders from across the state, which has provided me with a rich collection of practical processes, strategies, protocols, tools and importantly networks that can support our continued growth at Edenhope College.

The internship is the final component of the program and being able to shadow Rob Pyers is and has been an incredible opportunity. Rob has led Horsham College from the darkness to being the most successful Government school with a student population higher than 400 in the State. To be able to work with and to be challenged by Rob and his Principal Team is an extraordinarily fortunate opportunity.

I was initially included into the program whilst at Stawell Secondary and am grateful for the support shown from the Edenhope College community to allow me the opportunity to complete the course. I am still contactable over this period of time so please feel free to email on chad.frost@education.vic.gov.au.

I hope the whole school community takes stock of their achievements this Semester and take the time to recharge and get ready for another action-packed Term 3.
