Year 10 Food Studies - coffee making

As an end of unit activity, year 10 Food for Life students learnt how to use the coffee machine to prepare a coffee for a teacher of their choice. They also prepared a cupcake for their chosen teacher to serve with the coffee. The students enjoyed colouring icing and following their decorating plans. Special thanks to Tess Molina for showing students how to use the coffee machine. The students were very proud of their finished products.

Year 9 Cool chemistry

This week we have been introduced to the topic "Matter."

In the first lesson we were introduced to the structure of atoms, protons, neutrons and electrons, and started with a chemistry-related experiment, which involved colour changing flames of the Bunsen burner that many peers enjoyed! - Sophia

We learned something about atoms and the nucleus. I enjoyed throwing the pingpong balls in the hoop trying to hit the ball in the middle of the hoop (representing the nucleus), and having fun with my friends - Vicky

I enjoyed learning about the history of the theory behind what we were learning. I think it helps to have visual aids, like the recreation of the gold foil experiment to extend our understanding. It was also fun to compete with who could aim the best and hit the nucleus! - Maya
