Round robin wrap up

A big congratulations to our Year 8 netball, soccer and badminton teams who competed at divisional level on Thursday 9 June. Despite the cold and wintery conditions, MGSC competed with respect and pride throughout the day. A special mention to the netballers who were overall winners on the day, qualifying them to compete at regional level next term.

Well done also to our Year 7 teams – Netball, Soccer and Badminton who also competed on Friday 17 June at divisional level. Students who have qualified for the regional level will be notified over the coming weeks of the date for the next level of competition.

Year 7 soccer report

On Friday 17 June, the Year 7 soccer Round Robin started.

Ollie, Liv and I were the Year 9 student coaches and couldn’t be prouder of them.

From the first training session, we had to the last game on Friday. They improved astronomically. Overall, the girls played 3 games throughout the day, playing new positions, having amazing teamwork and voice, and improving skills. The first game was a draw being 1-1 against Cheltenham. In the second game, the girls won 5-1 against Yavneh, and the third game was won 3-1 against Prahan.

The girls played so well and everyone had so much fun including us!! Thank you year 7s for being awesome :)

SSV Virtual cross country

SSV Play aims to engage less active students and those not currently participating in interschool sport, through a variety of sport and physical activities. Virtual Cross Country encourages students to go for a walk, jog or run and record their results to earn virtual points for their school. In 2022, SSV is encouraging students to go for at least one run, jog or walk a week over a 4 week period in either Terms 2 and or Term 3 to support more regular participation in being active. Students can take part in their own time or participate in an organised school event. The main aim is for students to give it a go and have fun or even achieve a personal best distance or time. Students participating in the Virtual Cross Country will earn virtual points for their school, with awards provided to schools with the highest participation. Students can also choose to have their results made public, but that is not mandatory. Virtual Cross Country is now open! Entries close on 16 September 2022.
