Deputy Principal, Teaching and Learning

Emerge Subject Selection – Year 10, 11 and 12 in 2023

On Wednesday 22 June, parents and students are invited online, to view the subject offerings for 2023. Early next week your child/ren will receive an invitation with a link to enable access to our Emerge 2023 Curriculum Information Session.  Staff have prepared information for each subject, at each year level, and you will be able to view the videos and gain access to the subject description information. The planning template that will accompany the invitation will enable you to work through a variety of scenarios with your son or daughter as they plan for 2023.  Senior staff will be online between 7.00 pm & 8.30 pm to answer any questions submitted on the Information Session platform.

On Thursday 23 June, the Tim Murray Room will transform for a Mini Emerge Subject Expo. This will be held at lunchtime and all students in Year 9, 10 and 11 will be encouraged to attend. Subject teachers will be on hand to answer individual questions and help students understand what is required in each of the subjects on offer. A representative from RIST and the Hamilton District Skills Centre will also be on hand to answer any questions students have about studying a VET Certificate with an external provider. Year 12 students are also a useful source of information, and the current Prefects will be on hand to provide some guidance and advice.

Careers discussion and support is also an important part of the subject selection process. Students are encouraged to follow up with specific questions to both Mrs Manifold and Mrs Churchill. Feel free to email: lmanifold@hamiltoncollege.vic.edu.au or achurchill@hamiltoncolleg.vic.edu.au.

Following the Information Session and the Emerge Expo, students will have some time to reflect and decide on their subject choices. Subject Selections are due for students in Year 11 & 12 in 2023 by Wednesday 20 July and Year 10 2023 by Friday 29 July.  A subject selection interview will take place with a senior member of staff early in Term Three.

Should you have any further questions and comments please feel free to contact Mrs Bradbeer, Deputy Principal Teaching and Learning, Mrs Bonnett, Head of VCE Studies or me.
