From the Principal 

The heart of education is education of the heart.

Bravo! I congratulate all students and staff who proudly represented College at the recent Hamilton Eisteddfod. After three long years of forced cancellation, students from both Myrniong and the Senior School performed across a range of different disciplines at the Hamilton Performing Arts Centre.  I commend all participants and those groups that excelled including The Hamilton and Alexandra College Kantor Strings, the Chamber Orchestra, the Chamber Singers, the Pizzicato Strings, the Male Voice Choir, the Year 7 Concert Band and the College Concert Band.  I also especially loved our amazing Chorale!  Well done to Director of Music, Benjamin Hiscock and his talented team of highly professional staff.

Boarding has been an integral part of College life since 1872 and it remains a vibrant part of our future.  I fully acknowledge that the boarding decision for families not only has significant financial ramifications but huge emotional outpourings as well.  We treasure the responsibility and believe College provides the perfect balance for boys and girls wishing to access a regional, aspirational education Monday to Friday but still having the flexibility to travel home on weekends to share their stories and experiences with family, see their animals and play sport with their friends.  With the recent addition of our new head chef, Mr Joshua Donnelly, cooking up a storm for our boarders and our renewed commitment to deliver VCE Agricultural Science, I firmly believe that all missing pieces are now in place to ensure our number one status in the country.

Next week, I visit Penola, Lucindale, Naracoorte, Keith and Bordertown on an informal ‘coffee and conversation’ tour around the South East.  I would love to catch up and for you to share any thoughts on where we can further improve, or perhaps introduce me to an interested friend or family member.  Our Tower Scholarship application process will close November 2022 and please remember that Year 7 and 8 Boarding Bursaries are available for 2023.
