VCAL

The VCAL Team finished off a year of learning about Social Inclusion by organising a "Snack Attack".

Students collected school snacks as a way to raise awareness about and to assist the work of the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project.

Thanks to the generosity of our school community, we were able to send a significant collection of school snacks to BASP for distribution amongst asylum seeker families.

Year 11 Product Design

Semester 2 saw the Year 11 Product Design students collaborate in groups to consult, design and construct some creative projects for the Central Kindergarten here in Echuca.

Students were given the task to design some new furniture that would meet the needs and requirements of the children.

Items made include :

A Bookcase - constructed by Sam Kneebone, Andrew Quincey and Darby Blachford

A Toy Car - constructed by Adam Jones and Melody Cheep

A Toy Kitchen - constructed by Jo Guiney and Corey Drennan

A Wardrobe - constructed by Maisy Molluso and Maddison Barnstable

The projects were very well received by the staff and children

and should keep the children entertained for a very long time.

Year 9 History Excursion

On Friday 15th of November, the Year 9 History classes participated in an excursion to Melbourne to broaden their knowledge of Australian History.

They ventured through the lanes of Melbourne to discover the business of sanitation in the late 1800s, receiving a licence as a Nightman who collected the cities waste.

They took an interactive walk through the history of Indigenous Australians at the Melbourne Museum, where they had the opportunity to explore not only the culture and history through artefacts but also hands on displays.

Finally, our visit finished with a sombre tour of the Melbourne Shrine, where they participated in a remembrance ceremony and explored the galleries that documented Australia's experience in war, past and present.
