Teaching and Learning

Term Four is drawing to an end and there has been plenty to celebrate with a camps, retreats, excursions, expos and students completing SAC’s and exams. There has been lots happening at St. Joseph’s, as Term 4 is an extremely productive time for all.

Some key dates and events over the next few weeks are detailed below.

Step-Up to VCE Program

Preparation for VCE started on Monday the 25th of November with the Step-Up to VCE Program for all students undertaking VCE in 2020. This program is introducing students to their Unit 1 and Unit 3 subjects, providing a start to their coursework and an introduction to their holiday homework. 

Step-Up to VCE Parent Information Session

This year we introduced a Step-Up to VCE Parent Information session for parents of students undertaking a Year 12 subject in 2020. This was held on Monday the 25th of November.

Final Dates for students in 2019

Year 10 & 11 students undertaking VCE in 2020: Thursday the 5th of December (Last day of Step-Up Program)

Year 7, 8 & 9 students: Wednesday 11th of December

Subject Selection Confirmation and Booklists

On Wednesday, the culmination of an extensive program of course information and counselling resulted in students in Years 7, 8 and 9 receiving confirmation of their 2020 Learning Program.

Nearly all students were able to receive their first preferences, with a small amount receiving their second preference for some subjects due to clashes in the timetable grid.

Students also received their booklists which need to be lodged online by Thursday the 5th of December.

Semester 2 Reports

Semester 2 reports for students in Years 7-11 will be released to families on Monday the 9th of December. Please review these with your child and celebrate their successes and discuss what they can do to continue to improve in 2020.

Year 7 2020 Orientation Day

On Tuesday the 10th of December, we look forward to welcoming our 2020 Year 7 cohort to St. Joseph’s for Orientation Day.

This is a great day where students have the day to explore the College, meet our teachers and get to know each other. 

We look forward to welcoming this new addition to our St. Joseph’s Community.
