Lawn Bowls
On Wednesday the 20th of November 18 students from St. Joseph’s College competed in a local lawn bowls competition at Moama Bowling Club. The students competed in four games against Moama Grammar and Rochester Secondary College. The heat took its toll but our students persevered with lots of water, sunscreen and lollies to get them through. Although we did not take out the big $500 voucher, a big congratulations goes to Dermot Richie, Reece Wissell and Jack Pilgram who placed in second position overall. Well done to all students who represented our school at the competition.
Girls State Cricket
The Year 7 and 8 Girls Cricket teams had an amazing day at State Titles in Melbourne on Tuesday.
On a cold and extremely windy day, the weather proved challenging at times.
The Year 7 girls had a few extremely close games including a draw in their second game. Coached by Annabel Johnson, the girls teamwork in the field was impressive however the other schools proved to be too strong on the day.
The Year 8 girls won their first three games with some amazing bowling and running between wickets which gained them valuable runs on the board. The made the grand final where they played against Wanganui Park Secondary College. The girls kept their score low with some good bowling and fieldwork however the opponents bowling skills were really the difference between the two teams. Wanganui bowled quickly and with precision and our girls couldn’t get the runs. They played some great cricket but also had the best time with lots of laughs and fun!
Second in the state is something that we are all proud of!
Congratulations girls and also to Jacqui James for coaching.
