From the Principal's desk

Our fete this year has been another successful adventure with our Parents and Friends, families, teachers and students all contributing. We look forward to finalising the costs so that money made from the fete can be invested back into our school. We are looking at building up our Science resources and equipment along with some other assets.

Last Monday I travelled to Melbourne with our school leaders to participate in the National Young Leaders’ Day. It was a very early start (4.30 am for me) but it was well worth it as evidenced by speeches the leaders gave at assembly on Friday afternoon. For further details, please read the student news section of the newsletter.

This year we continue to commit to improving our literacy and numeracy results. An important element of this is ensuring that my teachers are up to date with the latest learning and also committed to their own learning. Today I travel together with Rob Smith and David Jenner to Melbourne, to begin a Leading Mathematics Course which we were fortunate to be accepted into. Over the next few months we hope to bring what we learn in this course, back to our classrooms. Shantelle Hives, our Junior Team Leader has also been accepted into an Emerging Leader’s Course and she will be working on building a Professional Learning Community in the Prep -2 area. The focus is on teachers working together to analyse children’s learning and plan together the strategies that will help each child reach their true potential. Jacqi Hope, as our Learning Specialist in Literacy, also continues to develop her knowledge and skills and is completing a Learning Specialist Course. As a whole staff we also have our own professional learning notebook folder and are committed to keeping up to date with our reading and developing skills. Jenny Sartoria and myself are even booked into some Minecraft Education PD next week.
