Presentation Night & Final Assembly

We enjoyed wonderful celebrations of College life at the Presentation Night and Final Assembly this week. These events allow us to come together as a community and celebrate what the students have achieved throughout the year. Congratulations to all Dunhelen students and particularly students who were awarded School Colours, Encouragement or Subject Awards. Your hard work is recognised and you should be very proud of your achievements.

Community Activity

Last week the Food Studies students hosted 13 visitors from the Pascoe Vale Retirement Village. It was truly a lovely afternoon. The students prepared all the food and engaged in conversation with our visitors. Congratulations to all students and staff involved. It was a huge success and we plan to host a lot more of these in coming years.

Dunhelen Classes for 2020

Students will be notified over the holidays about their Homeroom and teachers for next year. Please note that the allocation of homerooms is not an easy task and many factors are included in the final decision making. If your child is not with their ‘friend’ there will be a reason for this. Our aim is to compose homerooms that we think, in our professional capacity, will be productive. We encourage all students to widen their friendship circle and to remember that the classroom is a place for work, learning and fun. There is plenty of time throughout the day for social chit chat, play and more fun.

Year 9

The Year 9 students are leaving Dunhelen and heading up into Brookhill. We wish them all the very best and hope that they hold good memories of their time in Dunhelen. I know that they are ready for the next phase of their journey.  Good luck to all!

Thank You

A big thank you to all Dunhelen students for a wonderful year and enormous gratitude to the Dunhelen Homeroom teachers, who go above and beyond. A very big thank you to Mr Eleftheriou, Mrs Flynn and Mr Patchell who are always on hand to assist and support. My job is made so much easier by the Homeroom teachers and Assistant Heads of School. Thank you!

Dunhelen Staff Leadership Team

Next year will see a little bit of a change in the Dunhelen leadership team. Mrs Flynn leaves us to move up North and we thank her enormously for all she has done in and for Dunhelen.  We welcome Ms Jacquelyne Armstrong as Year 8 Assistant Head of School.

Merry Christmas

Wishing all the Dunhelen community a blessed Christmas and a wonderful New Year. Please ensure you get to spend lots of time with loved ones. I look forward to another busy Dunhelen year in 2020.

Dunhelen Sports Day

On Tuesday 10 December, we held our annual Dunhelen Sports Day. The Year 8 and Year 9 students were lucky with the weather. Unfortunately, the rain and mist cancelled the Year 7 student’s timeslot in the morning. It was a fantastic day, with students performing well and displaying a great amount of effort in basketball, tchoukball and soccer. Teams were awarded points on the day for winning matches. Each sports teams total was then combined with the rest of their houses score to form an overall total.

The results were as follows:

Overall Dunhelen results:

Well done to Clarke House! Thank you to all the staff who helped and the students for performing to the best of their ability.
