Grade 2 Students

Celebrating our terrific Twos!

2A - Ms Meagan and Mrs Bird

In recognition of 'Thank A First Responder Day' on June 9th, 2A had a great class discussion about all the wonderful ways these people help our community. We then created different responder vehicles and wrote heartfelt messages on the back to thank them! Here are some examples:

Will.A, Ffion A, Alice P, Harlen H, Scarlett R, Mackenzie B, Eva C, Piper B, Samara K, Matilda E and Connor J.

Grade 2’s have been exploring different forms of poetry. These lessons have been lots of fun and children have been coming up with some great pieces of writing. This week we looked at ‘similes’ and how they help enrich our writing. Here are two copies of the ‘All About Me' similes

2B - Miss Bailey

For the past few weeks, 2B have been learning about subtraction. To practise our backwards 20s facts we created our own bowling alley, with a bit of a twist. We had 20 pins instead of 10! Everyone got to have a go. After someone bowled, 2B had to count how many pins were knocked over and then use their mental maths skills to work out how many were left standing.

2B have been learning all about poetry. This week we learnt about Limericks. We had to pick a picture out of a tub and we happened to pick up a wicked witch. 2B thought long and hard about what could rhyme with witch and they came up with Mr. Mitch. We loved the end product of our limerick- although I'm not sure if Mr. Mitch will!

2C - Mrs Mac

In 2C, we are investigating subtraction strategies. We listened to a story about a poor ladybug who lost half of her spots in a storm. By using doubles facts, we could work out the matching subtraction sum. It was great fun!
