Kitchen Science Lesson

Classifying foods according to their nutritional value is one way of grouping foods, but Foundation, 1’s and 2’s came up with many other interesting ways to do it. It was great to hear students’ lively discussions about the similarities and differences in the foods they were given, and how they would organise them.

Some of the ways foods were sorted:

Soft and hard foods

By colours, shape and size

Breakfast, dinner, snacks and things that go in cakes

And of course, by type of foods or Food Groups

Gardening:

Gardening - Class 3/4 D

During Gardening Class 3/4 D had a wonderful time exploring the area behind the portables where we found a variety of fungi plants and insects inhabiting this area. Using their keen observational skills, students were lucky enough to find some caterpillar eggs that were in the process of hatching (see images for day one and day two of hatching).
