Prayer

Loving Father,

We have come to the end of another school term, and we thank you for giving us the patience, motivation and guidance to get us through it.

May the holiday period be for us a time of rest and recreation to help restore us and re-create us in your image and likeness, as we enjoy more of the love and presence of our families, on whom we ask your blessing.

Amen.

Upcoming Sacramental Program Dates:

Confirmation - 9am, this coming Sunday, 20th June

First Reconciliation - 6pm, Thursday 9th September, 2021

2021 First Eucharist Mass

On Friday 4th June, Year 3 students as well as other students enrolled in the Sacrament of First Eucharist program, participated in the First Eucharist Retreat Day. The day started off with a brief run-through the plan for the day before making their way over to the Chapel for Reconciliation. After Reconciliation, students participated in a Reflection before completing artworks to adorn the walls of the Church for Sunday’s First Eucharist Mass.

Then on Sunday 6th June, those students who were enrolled in the Sacrament of First Eucharist program attended the First Eucharist Mass, which was held in front of family and friends at St Joseph’s Church, Gunnedah. It was a wonderful Mass and the students all received Holy Communion for the first time, which was a wonderful experience after learning about the importance of the Sacrament in the weeks leading up to the special day. All students were very reverent, understanding the sacredness around Mass.

I would like to extend a big ‘thank you’ to the Year 3 teachers who did a wonderful job preparing the students, Fr Abmar for his support during the program, the parents and teachers who helped on the Retreat Day and to the parents and families for making the commitment to this program and to your child’s faith formation.

Class Mission Money

We would like to encourage your child to continue their wonderful almsgiving towards their class Mission Box. As you know, we have two major fundraising periods throughout the year - Lent (Project Compassion) and Mission Week in October. Outside of these periods, your child can still make donations to their class Mission Box.  If your child is unsure where their class Mission Box is located, please encourage them to ask their teacher.

Infants Liturgy

This Thursday, students from Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will be attending an Infants Liturgy at St Joseph’s Church. The Liturgy will involve hymns and Scripture readings and will be lead by Fr Abmar. The Liturgy will commence at midday. If parents or other family members wish to attend, they will all need to ensure they sign-in upon entering the Church under current COVID-19 regulations.
