Celebrating a Concrete Slab

A landmark in the construction of our new Community Hub

On Thursday 11 March, we were invited to join the builders of  our new Community Hub for a topping-out ceremony to mark the completion of heavy construction. The last slab has been poured - 600 cubic metres of concrete which, for those of a mathematical turn of mind, means that no less than 100 concrete trucks visited site over two days - and now construction moves to steel and cladding.

A great excuse for a celebration and a prayer and a gathering of builders, engineers, architects and school representatives all together on the top floor of the Community Hub - which will be basketball courts when finished.

"It's just such a lovely place to be working," the site manager said. "People, the environment, the atmosphere - it's great. When I'm stressed, I just turn and look at the hills around me."

Business Manager Jon Price welcomed everyone, and Executive Principal Tim Argall prayed for all involved, for continued safe working and good relationships over the remaining months of the project.
