On Tuesday October 4th, the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Table Tennis teams, as well as the Year 11 VET Sport and Recreation class, jumped on a bus to MSAC for the 2022 SCSA Table Tennis competition!

There were mixed feelings of both excitement and nervousness amongst the teams, but our goal was to have fun and play our best. The girls played against six other schools from across Melbourne. Killester started strong and won most of our games. All the teams made it to the finals, with the inters and juniors making the semi finals. Our senior team had amazing results and made it into the Grand Finals against Our Lady of Sion.

Our juniors and intermediates did not advance to the grand final, but the girls were very competitive in the games and were proud of how they played throughout the day.

The games were tough and challenging, but Killester came 1st in the Senior tournament! All of the teams performed extremely well throughout the day, and should be proud of themselves for their efforts. A special congratulations to Caren Tjiang from the Senior A team who won Best Player in the Grand Final.

A huge thank you to Ms Roberts, Gabby and the Year 11 Sport and Rec class who helped in the organisation and hosting of the day, as well as to all the teachers and coaches who came to support us.

I wanted to thank Damien Halliday, Nicole Scott, Emma Sadler, Tracey Campbell and Gabby Camp who trained and coached the teams both in preparation for the day and on the day of the competition. Our teams were very successful with all teams making at least 1 final which is a credit to our girls and their coaches.

I would also like to sincerely thank the Year 11 sport and Recreation class who have assisted me with hosting duties across the year. They were instrumental to the running and overall success of the day and I couldn't do it without their help. On the day they were responsible for gathering scoresheets, tallying results, timing, keeping track of winners - they did all these jobs without complaint. I was so proud of the way they represented the school. Well done girls.

To our students- some amazing results girls! We had every team make at least 1 final which is something to be very proud of. A special well done to our senior team who have trained for many weeks in preparation for the competition. It was great to see all of your hard work reap rewards! Well done to Caren Tjiang who was voted MVP for the senior grand final, a great effort Caren!

Now we look forward to competing in the inter school table tennis competition on the 20th October where we advance to play other schools. Go Killester!
