The Aboriginal People & Culture team are currently promoting an Aboriginal school-based traineeship in Armidale and Walcha for Conservation and Land Management.
We're looking for Aboriginal Year 10 students who are commencing Year 11 in 2023 with an interest in completing high school.
They will complete paid work experience, one day a week, throughout Years 11 and 12.

What's involved?
A school-based traineeship allows you to complete a nationally recognised qualification, such as Workplace Skills or Conservation & Land Management, and gain on-the-job experience with a host employer while completing your HSC studies!Throughout your traineeship, you will be employed by HVTC and hosted to the Department of Planning and Environment to gain practical workplace experience. Positions are available across multiple NSW locations, including in Sydney, Central West, New England, Illawarra, South Coast, and more.

Certificate II Conservation & Land Management
As a school-based Conservation and Land Management Trainee, you will undertake the following tasks:
- Conduct basic maintenance of trails, pathways, roads, and vegetation
- Support Field workers and Conservation tasks
- Conduct routine maintenance and servicing of parks and visitor facilities
- Mapping of conservation values and vegetation identification
Certificate II Workplace Skills
As a school-based Workplace Skills Trainee, you will gain experience in a range of areas, including:
- Tourism
- Administration
- Finance
- Customer Relations
- Land Management
