What's Happening at CHPS

Our Croydon Hills Art Show is fast approaching.

We are excited to have our Art Show back and up and running after a 3-year hiatus.

The Art Show is next Monday (October 10th) night and will be held in the Stadium.

The doors of the show will open at 5:30pm till 7pm, with a Family BBQ available prior at 5pm.

It is a great opportunity to see what the students of CHPS have created throughout the year.

Students have chosen their best piece to be up for display. We have a wonderful range of pieces from textiles, painting to 3D pieces.

Not only are you able to see the students' artwork, but there will be a photo booth, large poster to colour in, a BBQ (starts at 5pm) and Scavenger Hunt, as well as our Art Raffle which will be drawn towards the end of the show.

We have terrific prizes:

  • 1st Prize is a $300 voucher at Zart Art art suppliers
  • 2nd Prize is a 10Kg Block of chocolate donated by CHAPS
  • 3rd Prize is an Art materials bundle

Please don’t forget to hand in raffle booklets to the Office, as Monday October 10th is the last day to hand them in. Raffle tickets will be on sale at the show, $2 per ticket.

It is a gold coin entry to the Art Show, and BBQ prices will be:  Sausages $3 and Drinks $2

We hope to see you all at the show.

In order for this event to run smoothly, we require assistance from parents/carers to help with standing on checkpoints, so students know where to run and also on the finish line, handing out place cards and ribbons.  If you are available for the morning and would like to assist, can you please email Laura Yorke at laura.yorke@education.vic.gov.au

Please include:

A Compass event has been posted this week for parents/carers to consent for the event.

Running Club

Welcome back everyone!  Just a reminder that Running Club will begin next Monday 10th October before school.

When: Monday mornings

Time: 8:45am

Where: Meet Mrs. Yorke at the spider web on the Junior oval.

This is a great opportunity for all students to build their fitness but also for Prep - 2 students to get in some training before the House Cross Country in week 3.

PE lessons

Just a reminder for students to wear appropriate uniform and runners as well as have their hair tied up so it is out of their face on the day they have their PE lesson.  Students will be required to wear their hats in Term 4 and it is highly recommended that they have their drink bottle for PE lessons as well.

Sports uniforms

Could all Middle and Senior students who borrowed a sports singlet or sports t-shirt for the District Athletics please return them to the PE office if you haven't already done so.

Thank you 🙂

Library News

Welcome back to Term 4!  I hope you all managed to have a bit of a break and read some fantastic books.

SCHOLASTIC BOOKCLUB

Usually I send out the Scholastic Brochures in the second week of Term 4, but with so much going on this term I thought that I would try and get it done a little earlier.

Today everyone should receive a Scholastic Book Club brochure.  We only send out Scholastic brochures twice a year – once in Term 3 and again early in Term 4.  If you don’t receive yours there will be limited spares available from the Library, or you can just go online to https://www.scholastic.com.au/book-club/book-club-parents/ to view Brochure 7 and place your order. If you choose the LOOP option (explained on the order form) you order your child’s individual items and pay for them.  No paperwork needs to be sent to the school.  Your order will be received with the school’s orders and will be delivered to your child’s classroom along with the orders of the other students.  This is the only way to pay by credit card.  The orders are due back by Wednesday 12TH October.  If you try to put through a late order (which will be a couple of days after they are due back at school) you will be given the option to pay postage and have it sent directly to your home address.

Cash orders are sent to the school.  No orders are to go to the library or class teachers – they are to go directly to the Office.  Please ensure that these orders have Name and Class on both the order form and the envelope.  If you want orders as gifts just put your name and a phone number or email address on the order form and mark it clearly as a gift. There is also a ‘Gift’ option if you pay by credit card, (however this is outside my control if it comes back from Scholastic with your child’s name on it). We will contact you when they arrive at school and hold them at the office for you to collect.  We do earn valuable points for every purchase made which are used for new library books.  Your support is greatly appreciated.

From Sophie in Sickbay....

It’s allergy season.  With Spring comes seasonal allergies.  If your child is suffering from them, please treat with anti-histamines at home.  If you want your child to have medication at school, please sent medication to the office and fill out a Medication Authorisation Form (attached).

Gastro is going around the school, so please be aware for symptoms. Students must stay away from school for absolute minimum 24hrs post last symptom e.g. if vomit or diarrhoea happens in the evening they can’t attend school the next day.
