Term 3

What a busy term it has been at Lower Primary with lots of learning and fun activities to support and develop students knowledge and understanding.

LPA, LPB, LPC

Sports Day

LPA, LPB and LPC thoroughly enjoyed participating in our Primary Sports Day hosted by Kaboom Kids Sport. We started the day by participating in a group warm up where we got to showcase some of our best dance moves. We then worked hard to rotate through 14 different activity stations where we practised our throwing, kicking, balancing, striking, catching and gross motor skills. The day finished with a fun freeze game. It was so much fun and we especially loved the music for moving and packing up. We also loved seeing some of our old friends who are now in Upper Primary. A great physical day was had by all and we all stayed active for the duration of the event.

DOC Football Academy

Students at Lower Primary have been very fortunate to have Coach Pat from DOC Football Academy come each Wednesday and Thursday to run a soccer clinic. The students have been improving their skills while participating in drills incorporating listening skills, ball control and team work. They have also played some matches.  LPD, LPE and LPF thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. We had some players with great skills and many goals were scored. We learnt how to pass the ball to other players, be encouraging of each other and to be good sports.

LPG, LPH, LPI

Book Week Celebrations

Students at Lower Primary celebrated Book Week in August. The theme was Dreaming With Your Eyes Open. Students in LPG, LPH and LPI came dressed in their favourite book characters. Some of the costumes were Superheroes, fairy tales characters, animals and fairies. Children participated in a parade in the morning, where they danced and showed off their costumes. They enjoyed seeing the teachers come dressed in different characters. We even had a visit from Bob the Builder

The children enjoyed listening to the author Vikki Conley. Vikki read her book, "Where the Lyrebird lives",  and we sang songs using the puppets we made during our library session with Helen. The children danced to a song that was related to Vikki's book.

LPJ, LPK

Weather Incursion

The students at Lower Primary were fortunate enough to have a Weather Incursion as part of the Integrated  Unit this semester. The students loved engaging in all the fun experiments including making a cloud in a jar and making a fast hurricane in a bottle. We even got to try on Rainbow glasses! The Prep students enjoyed getting to participate in hand on activities and learning more about the different kinds of Weather!

Library

“Dreaming with eyes open …” was the theme for Book Week this year. Lower Primary students participated in many events to celebrate award winner books written by Australian authors. A highlight this term was a visit from inspiring local author Vikki Conley, who shared two of her favourite stories with us. Students engaged in the stories using character puppets they made during Library class.

Vikki showed the students stories she had written at a similar age leaving a message with the students to continue their passion for storytelling through recording their everyday experiences through writing and visual representations.

Our visit from Vikki was lovely way to commemorate the annual Book Week celebrations.

Have a wonderful break and see you all in Term 4 which starts Tuesday October 4.
