Principal's Report

Student activities at Lunchtime

It has been terrific to see so many students participating together in the activities they love doing during lunchtime. It helps students enjoy coming to school and feel part of our community.  It is also fun.  We have had a particular focus on re- developing these activities with our students as they have returned to a full year onsite. I would like to thank the staff and students who have been involved for their time and effort. The activities indoors include Board Games clubs, Homework Club Radio, Dungeons and Dragons Club, Nicky’s Nails, reading in the library, a computer games club and music rehearsals.

Across the school there have also been a lot of lunchtime sport with regular games of cricket, soccer, AFL, basketball, netball, volleyball and Rugby. Everyday the gym has been open for students to access the terrific new facilities. Recently our sporting teams have had quite a bit of success. I would like to thank Sport Coordinator Jesse Sciberras for his work in this area.

We have a long history of connection with sport. The foundation Principal of Melton Tech (which eventually become Staughton College) was Jack Cunningham. He played in the old VFL for Hawthorn. In fact he kicked the goal that put them in front in the last quarter of the 1961 grand final when the won their first premiership. We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
